There’s something very atmospheric about a rainy wedding day. I don’t think that it’s a thing to be concerned about particularly, providing you’ve chosen a venue big enough to contain everyone comfortably, as was the case for Sophie and Chris’s wedding in St Peter’s Church in Budleigh Salterton, Devon, and subsequent reception at Deer Park House, Honiton.

You wouldn’t really have noticed it was raining apart from the fact that everyone was inside. Roaring fire, gentle hubbub of guests mingling, group photos in a beautifully window-lit room, and finally the wedding breakfast and evening party in the orangery with full on ceilidh band and dancing. An absolutely brilliant day. I needn’t have worried about the weather – nothing was going to put a damper on this celebration.
