You probably wouldn’t expect to find a wedding venue as grand as Manor by the Lake hidden away in Cheltenham, just down the road from a supermarket and flanked by commercial buildings, but the truth is, once inside the grounds of of this stunning exclusive use wedding venue, you simply wouldn’t know anything else surrounds the venue at all.
The 7 acres of grounds wrap all the way around the large victorian former home of Sir George Dowty. There is a beautiful pavilion for outdoor weddings, in addition to the house’s rooms of various sizes to accommodate a range of wedding guest numbers.
The West Wing Ballroom can seat up to 200 dinner guests, has it’s own stage and bar, as well as access at both ends to the patio and gardens.
The house features some beautiful carvings around the main staircases, as well as incredible chandeliers.
The guys will love the groom’s getting ready room – adorned with rock memorabilia, jukebox, pool table and table football as well as a bar.
The manor boasts 12 luxurious rooms upstairs, each decorated in their own style from fairytale to American Colonial! There are several very large suites with four-poster beds, and roll top baths positioned by large windows so you can enjoy the view out the beautifully manicured grounds. These make amazing bridal suites and getting ready spaces.
There are countless places for couple photos including a wooded walk around the ground’s very own lake, complete with festoon lights adding a touch of magic.
Manor by the Lake is one of my favourite wedding venues in the South West. I thoroughly recommend it to all couples looking for wedding venues in the Cotswolds, Cheltenham and Gloucester areas.
